Visit with Jessica & Floyd

Today I worked on genealogy in preparation for our next stop here in South Carolina. I found a couple of new leads on Ancestry.com for Mike's great-grandfather Manning and his parents & grandparents who were in South Carolina. Maybe I can find out more on the Mannings when I'm researching in Laurens & Newberry.

We left the campground this afternoon around 3:00 to drive up to our friend's house in Six Mile for dinner. We made a quick stop at the laundry in the campground before we left so I could take a look at the equipment there. We took I-85 east to US-76 and then north around Clemson up to Six Mile - a total of 32 miles.

We drove through Six Mile, a town with a population of about 600, and arrived at our friends house a little before 4:00.

It has been a couple of years since we've seen Jessica and her husband Floyd. Since then Maddie was born a year ago and joins her big brother Gabe who is 6. Lane, Jessica's mother, joined us this evening and it was so good to see her again since it has been YEARS since we last saw her.

We were admiring the paintings on the walls in their living room and found out that Jessica
had painted most of them - what a great talent she has!

We moved from indoors to outside on the back yard and had wine and hors d'oeuvres.

A little later Jessica and Floyd showed us their swimming pool and the "beach play area" next to the pool.

Gabe dove into the pool and swam over to us.

Then it was back to our chairs and more relaxing and visiting. Lane was giving Maddie a bottle and it was hard to tell who was enjoying their drink more - Lane or Maddie.

When we first got here Maddie wouldn't have anything to do with Mike, but after her bottle and a little play time she would sit on his lap and had to touch his beard.

We moved up to the deck for a group photo before dinner.

We had steak and grilled vegetables and more wine for dinner, followed by cake for dessert.

Jessica called Fletcher (Jessica and Fletcher were childhood friends) on her phone and we video chatted with him - how cool was that!

Then it was time for us to leave and head back to the RV. We really had a great time tonight and it was so good to Lane after all of these years. It was especially nice to spend time with Jessica and her family. What great kids they have!
