Fort Payne, AL to Rome, GA

Since we only had about 47 miles to travel today, we decided to wait and leave after lunch - that gave us a little more time to visit with Al and Symphony.

I helped Symphony download her photos from her camera to her laptop - she hadn't downloaded some of the photos from our trip to western Canada in 2009. It took quite a while to download the photos, she had over 2800 on her camera!

After lunch Mike got the RV ready for our departure today - I was still downloading photos to Symphony's computer. We were waiting around for Symphony's son, Scott, to arrive with his family - wife, 2 daughters and his mother-in-law - a very good looking family. Oops, we didn't
take any photos of Scott and family!

We hadn't seen Scott since the late 1970's when he was about 9 or 10 years old. Symphony and her mother used to live next door to Mike and his family in Lake Worth. We would see Scott when Symphony came to visit with her mother.

After visiting with Scott and his family for a bit, we hitched up the car and at 2:30 (CST) headed south down County Road 83 to County Road 11 and then south on State Road 68 to US-411. We stopped at the Hi-Tech gas station at Leesburg to fuel up the RV ($3.439 a gal). We stopped at the Wal-Mart Supercenter on US-411 in Centre to get groceries before continuing east on US-411 to the Georgia state line and into the Eastern Time Zone.

We traveled east on US-411 to County Road 100 to Blacks Bluff Road SW and then to Lock and Dam Road SW to the Coosa River Campground and Trading Post.

We arrived at the Trading Post at 5:15 (EST) and it was closed. We disconnected the car and drove around the campground to pick a site. We had downloaded and printed a campground map from their website and used it to locate the 50 amp campsites. We chose site #15 and then went back to the RV where we had parked it at near the Trading Post.

Site 15 is next to the restrooms and laundry and is fairly level. It is a gravel site and does have grass around it. We have 50 amp electric and water hookups. Our cost for the site is $22 a night. Mike will go down to the Trading Post in the morning to register.

We tried receiving satellite TV over the rooftop dish and then Mike set out the portable dish - no reception. We may try finding a different location for the portable dish in the morning. So we will be watching movies on DVD tonight.

I put the leftover lasagna Symphony gave us into the microwave to heat it up and fixed garlic bread in the toaster oven for dinner and opened a bottle of wine. I know - that means we ate lasagna 3 nights in a row, but it was nice to have something easy and delicious to fix tonight.
