Rome, GA to Fair Play, SC

We got up this morning at 8:00 and after having our coffee and breakfast got ready to leave Coosa River Campground. We stopped at the dump station to empty our tanks and hitch up the car.

We left the campground a little after 10:00 and headed east to US-411 and then east on State Road 20 to Cumming, GA.

We were going to stop at the Cumming 400 Shopping Center on the south side of Cumming for lunch, but we decided to stop at the shopping center across the street near the Hobby Lobby. After a 30 minute lunch stop we were again heading east on State Road 20 by 12:30.

We continued east on State Road 20 until we connected with I-85 northeast of Duluth and stayed on I-85 to the Georgia/South Carolina State Line.

We exited I-85 at exit 4 in South Carolina and stopped at the Love's Truck Stop to get gas in the RV. Unfortunately the card reader at the gas pump wasn't working and we left without

getting any fuel. The credit card we use for gas gives us 5% cash back on gas purchases made at the pump, but no rebate if we pay in the store. We'll just wait until we leave on Sunday and get gas then.

We followed the winding road out to Carolina Landing that is a Thousand Trails campground and arrived there at 2:30.

The office was closed and we checked in at the Ranger station at the gate. We disconnected the car and parked the RV and then drove around the campground to select a site.

We went back to the RV and I dropped Mike off and then headed back up to our campsite so I could direct him into the site. The campsites are built on a hill and the roads were obviously made back when RVs were much smaller than they are now. Mike navigated the roads just fine and parking the RV wasn't a problem.

We are in site A25 with full hookups (50 amp elec) and a paved site. We don't have any grass, just straw that was put down on the ground. Mike put out our patio rug over the straw. Our only cost for staying here is the $3 a day fee for 50 amp service and Katlyn came up from the Ranger station to unlock the 50 amp electric for us.

We will be here through Saturday and will be visiting with Fletcher's childhood friend Jessica and her family that live near here.
