Quiet Memorial Day weekend

Mike called North Carolina's State Parks on Friday and made a reservation at Rolling View Campground in Falls Lake State Recreation Area for 4 nights starting on June 13. Rolling View Campground is about 24 miles north of Raleigh where I want to do genealogy research at the North Carolina State Archives.

We also called Mike's cousin Jean in Wilmington, NC to her know that we would be visiting Wilmington on June 10 for a few days. Jean and her husband Joe invited us to stay with them and they are going to check to see if we can park the motor home on a vacant lot near their home.

Saturday morning we drove into Augusta to go shopping at Costco and we also got gas in the Vue there ($3.119 a gal). We had passed a Five Guys Burgers near Costco, so we stopped there for lunch after leaving Costco.

We stopped at CSRA Camperland to get a new propane hose for our grill. They didn't have one in stock and we ordered a hose that will be in on Wednesday. Our last stop was at a Publix about 12 miles from the campground.

We stopped to take a couple of photos of the Lodge here where the office, store and laundry are located.

It's been hot here in the daytime (low 90's), so Sunday we didn't do much - just relaxed and
watched the races on TV. A lot of campers came in this weekend to enjoy boating on the lake and this is the first weekend that the swimming beach here was open.

This morning the weekend campers and boaters started leaving, but there are still quite a lot of campers here.

I drove down to Publix for the things we forgot to get on Saturday. After lunch I gathered up a couple of loads of clothes and drove up to the Lodge to the laundry. There are 2 washers and 2 dryers and they cost 50¢ a load. I took a lawn chair with me since there weren't any chairs in the laundry. Just as I was folding the clothes, we started to get rain from tropical storm Beryl and we had quite a good downpour for a while. Once the rain had slacked off, I loaded the clothes and chair in the car and headed back to the RV.

Tomorrow we're going to do a bit of sightseeing and then go the library in Evans to do some genealogy research.
