Cherokee Rock Village

We had promised to show Al and Symphony some of our photos from our Alaska trip last year, so we hooked up my laptop to their TV. We had to use the TV in their bedroom since the TV in their living room didn't have a S-video connection.

Symphony had invited their next door neighbor, Brownie, to join us this morning. Symphony and Brownie were on the bed and the rest of us sat in chairs in their bedroom. We didn't show them all of the photos we had taken on our Alaska trip, but it did take about 2 hours.

It was then time for lunch and Brownie said it was time for her nap. After lunch Symphony left to run some errands and washed a load of clothes.

Later this afternoon Mike walked around taking some more photos

and the beautiful knock-out roses in the front of their house.

After Symphony got back from her errands, she drove us up to Cherokee Rock Village near Leesburg on the southern end of Lookout Mountain. It was home to the Cherokee and Creek Indians and is believed to be of religious and ceremonial importance to the Native Americans.

Cherokee Rock Village has been a favorite destination for rock climbers since the 1970's. After walking around the sandstone boulders,

we happened to find a couple climbing there today - Elena and J.T. from Clemson, SC.

We stood and watched as Elena climbed the rock wall

and then we watched J.T. climb.

We really enjoyed watching them carefully select their placement of hands and feet to make the climb. Mike took a lot of photos and movies of their climb (Cherokee Rock Village photos).

After saying goodbye to Elena and J.T. we headed back to the car to go back to Al and Symphony's house.

After we got back to their house, we heated up the leftover lasagna from last night and fixed garlic bread and a salad for dinner. We still had enough lasagna left after tonight's dinner for another meal. Symphony kept half of the lasagna and gave us the rest.

We took a couple more photos at the front of the house.

After watching TV for a while we all decided it was time for bed. Tomorrow we are leaving and heading over to Rome, GA.
