Driving from Paxico, KS to Jonesboro, MO

It was a little warmer this morning when we got up at 7:00. By the time we left the campground at 9:00, the temperature was 57°. Yesterday when we arrived here at Paxico, we could see several really old buildings in town and decided to drive around a bit before we left this morning.

We left Paxico and got on I-70 East. It was foggy and overcast for most of today which made taking photos of the scenery a challenge.

We drove through Topeka and crossed the Kansas River at 10:15.

About a half hour later we drove through Kansas City. I don't know if the haze over the city is normal or not, but it made it difficult to see much of the city.

It wasn't until after we passed through Kansas City, did I realize I had missed the signs for the Kansas and
Missouri state lines.

We stopped at a Pilot truck stop at HIgginsville, MO to get gas ($2.989 a gallon) and decided to eat lunch at the Subway there. Mike got a turkey foot-long sub meal and I got a foot-long Club sub meal. We ate half of our subs and saved the other half for supper tonight. We decided to stay at different campground tonight and called to cancel our reservation for tonight and called Jonesburg Gardens Campground to reserve a campsite for tonight.

There were a few things I saw that I was able to get photos of, but every once in a while just as the camera has focused a tree or bush "jumps" right into the shot like this tree.

The fog and haze has lasted all day, so what would have been some good road pictures didn't come out very good.

We arrived here at Jonesburg Gardens Campground at 3:00 and checked in. We are in site #29 with full hook-ups. It is a gravel campsite and it was totally level - amazing. We paid $34.99 with our Good Sam 10% discount - the discount usually makes up for the sales tax that is added to the camping fee.

We are supposed to be able to receive some local TV stations on our local TV antenna. But after 3 scans to pick up the local stations and not getting any, we set out our Dish satellite to see if we could receive any TV. Because of the heavy overcast, we are only able to receive 1 out of the 3 satellites so we aren't able to get local networks, but we do get some of the channels in our subscription.

We drove 284 miles today. I forgot to mention that I-70 becomes part of the Kansas Turnpike east of Topeka to just west of Kansas City and our toll for the car and trailer was $6.00. We also forgot to take photos of our campsite this afternoon, so we'll get them in the morning.
