Visit to Pratt Museum at Fort Campbell
This morning we drove on base to go to the Don F. Pratt Memorial Museum. We parked the car at the museum and walked across the street to see the aircraft on display at the Memorial Park
and the many unit memorials.
We then walked back across the street to the Pratt Museum.
The museum shows the history of the 101st Airborne Division, the “Screaming Eagles,” from the 1940's to the present with displays starting
in World War II up to Afghanistan and Iraq.
We left the Pratt Museum a little after 11:30 and drove off base to the U.S. Cavalry store just outside of Gate 4. Mike has gotten their catalogs for years and wanted to look around in the store. After browsing around the store a bit, we drove back on base to go to the PX.
We set up my laptop at a table in the Food Court at the PX to wi-fi. We decided to have lunch while we were there and got a couple of chicken finger meals at Popeyes Chicken.
We spent about an hour at the Food Court and then drove back to the campground. We have to cross a 1-lane bridge with a weight limit of 9 tons (18,000 lbs) to get to the campground. Our motor home weighs 26,000 lbs, so the bridge must be stronger than it looks.
Mike also took some more photos of the campground and the cabins that are here.
