Four miles south of the Tennessee state line we drove east on TN-140 through farm land and tobacco fields. Every so often we would see a tobacco curing barn where wood fires were being used to cure the tobacco leaves.

A little later we connected with US-79 and drove over the Kentucky Lake
where we saw these Coast Guard buoy tenders.

When we were about 8 miles west of Clarksville, we turned north on to TN-374 and 2 miles later we turned west on to Lafayette Road to New Providence Road. We passed by the Outdoor Recreation building at 11:30 and drove a little farther on until we saw a sign for Recreational Vehicle Park.
We parked the motor home in a large parking lot near the sign and unhitched the car. There are 2 campgrounds at Fort Campbell – 1 has paved campsites and 1 has gravel campsites. We could see a campground near us and drove over to check it out. It turned out to be the campground with the gravel campsites, so we drove farther out on New Providence Road and found another campground, Fletcher’s Fork, with the paved campsites.
We drove around the campground and decided on site #9. We drove back to where we had parked the RV and drove back to Fletcher’s Fork, parked the RV and set up camp. By now it was noon and we drove over to the Outdoor Recreation building to register and pay for our campsite before having lunch. The daily cost is $20 for full hookups (50 amp elec), but with our Senior Pass for national parks the daily fee is $18 and we will be here for 4 days.

Our campsite slopes to the right and Mike had to put leveling blocks under the rear tires. The right side is raised up so high that I can just reach the latch for the screen door and we’re using our extra folding step because it’s such a high step-up to the motor home’s first step.
