Fort Campbell to Cedar Creek Campground

It was 41° when we got up this morning and with the wind chill it felt like 39°. Since we didn't have far to travel today and check-out time is noon, we took our time breaking camp. We left Fletcher's Fork Campground at 11:30 and drove east to I-24. We drove south on I-24, crossed the Red River

and headed towards Nashville.

We exited I-24 at exit 40 and drove east on TN-45 and stopped at a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Store at Madison to fix lunch at 12:30. After lunch I went into Wal-Mart to buy a few items and paid with our debit card so I could get some cash.

We left Wal-Mart at 1:15 and continued east on TN-45 to Shute Lane and then north on Saundersville Road near Old Hickory Lake.

We drove about 7 miles east on Saundersville Road through several
residential areas

before we arrived at Cedar Creek Recreation Area, a Corps of Engineers Campground, after driving 70 miles today.

There was no one at the entrance kiosk, so we drove around the campground to find our campsite. We had read that the roads here in Cedar Creek are narrow and winding, and that is very true. We arrived at our campsite and unhitched the car.

Not only is the road narrow, but the campsite is narrow and we had to maneuver the RV in order to get it backed into our campsite. In some places there is a drop-off of a foot or more next to the road, but we were lucky that the drop-off across from our site was only a few inches. Mike had to drive forward off the road and then backup a few times in order to get into our site.

We are in site #59 (we reserved it back in September) and we have 50 amp electric and water hookups. It is a paved site and fairly long. With our Senior Pass our we paid $50 for our site for 5 days. We have a pretty good view of Old Hickory Lake.

After setting up the RV, we made coffee and sat outside to drink it. Then we walked over to the restrooms to check out the showers and to look at the laundry. There is 1 washing machine (out of order) and 1 dryer, so I'll have to locate a laundromat where I can wash clothes.

We talked with the camp hosts and they said the office would be open tomorrow morning at 8:00 and we could register then. We walked around the campground and it is almost full with only a few sites vacant.
