Shopping in Lynchburg

We've been spending so much time trying to get satellite TV reception that we hadn't taken a photo of our campsite. Mike took one this evening and I don't want to forget to put it in, so here it is.

From Lynchburg Preserve

This morning I located a local Dish Network provider (Satellite Headquarters in Lynchburg)and Mike called hoping to talk with a technician about our problems tuning in a signal. We've used the satellite signal meter we bought at Camping World and are picking up a good sat signal, but can't tune it in on the receiver. Anyway the technician was out of the office and the lady in the office said she would give him our name and number and he would call us when he got back in to the office.

Later this morning we drove the 15 miles up to Lynchburg to do some
shopping. We left the campground at 11:30 and arrived at Five Guys Burgers at Ward's Crossing Shopping Center at noon. Mike and I ordered our usual - the Little Bacon Cheeseburger each and a regular order of fries and regular sodas. We got there at the right time as there was no line ahead of us and plenty of seats to choose from.

After lunch we walked a couple of shops over to the Radio Shack to purchase a 8" flat coaxial cable. We're going to try connecting the Dish 500 antenna directly into our receiver by running the cable through one of the RV's windows. We can use the flat cable in the window and then we will be able to close the windows without damaging the cable.

The next stop was at the Petsmart to get some Pill Pockets (we only have a few left) for Tinker so we can give him Benadryl pills for his itching.

We checked gas prices on GasBuddy and decided to drive a couple of miles to a Kroger grocery store where we can get $.10 a gallon discount on gas with my Kroger customer card. I stopped in Kroger first to buy $8 worth of groceries so I could reach 100 fuel points and ended up spending $30! The regular gas price at Kroger was $3.499 a gallon and by redeeming our fuel points we saved $.10 a gallon ($3.399 a gal).

After getting gas we drove to Walmart Supercenter to get groceries. Since both Mike and I needed a hair cut, we decided to stop in at Cost Cutters in the Supercenter. Sherry gave both of us a haircut ($14.95 each) and did a great job. After our haircuts we spent about an hour in the Supercenter shopping and stocking up on groceries that we were out of. While we were in Walmart, I tried to get a roll of quarters to use at the campground laundromat, but didn't have any luck. Sometimes they're very accommodating and other times not.

On our way back to the campground, we decided to stop in at the Food Lion we had seen in Rustburg and see if I could get a roll of quarters there. I did a little shopping in Food Lion since I had forgotten a couple of items when we were in Walmart. I was able to get a roll of quarters from the checker at Food Lion.

We got back to the campground about 4:30 and after unloading our purchases, tried tuning in the satellite TV. We used the flat cable to connect the Dish 500 antenna directly to our receiver and still can't get a good signal. After several more tries, we decided to call it a day and just watch the local channels - all 3 of them. One is a national ABC station, one has local weather and the third is RTV with old TV series from the 50's and 60's.

We've been watching The Cisco Kid, Starsky & Hutch, The Saint, Robin Hood, Naked City, Route 66 and I Spy just to name a few. Actually, it's been kind of fun to see these old shows again, but I'm not sure if I want a solid week of them.
