Loft Mountain to Stoney Creek Resort

We got up at our usual time this morning and had broken camp and leaving our campsite at 10:45. We stopped at the Dump Station to empty our black and gray tanks and hitch up the car. We left Loft Mountain Campground a little after 11:00 and drove south on the Skyline Drive.

We exited the Skyline Drive at the Rockfish (south) Entrance Station a little before noon.

We drove west on I-64 to Waynesboro and took exit 94 to go to the Martins grocery store to get some groceries before going to Stoney Creek Resort. We decided to stop somewhere for lunch and saw a Wendy's just off the interstate exit.

We found a place to park the RV and fed Tinker his lunch before we walked
over to Wendy's for our lunch. We both ordered a single Baconator combo meal and ate our lunch in Wendy's.

After leaving Wendy's we drove on to Martins grocery store and got there at 12:40. Our Garmin GPS and Streets & Trips both had Martins on the right side of the highway when it was on the left, but we were able to switch lanes in time enough to make our turn into Martins.

We left Martins at 1:30 after buying some groceries and drove south on US-340 and then south on US-11 to Greenville to Greenville School Road.

We drove east to Cold Springs Road and then north to Lake Drive which took us to Stoney Creek Resort.

From Stoney Creek Resort

Once we left US-11 and drove out to Stoney Creek Resort, the road got worse and was really rough with lots of holes. The driveway into Stoney Creek Resort was much better and we stopped at the campground store to register about 2:00.

We had already been assigned a campsite, but we were told that there was still a RV parked on the site and that the people hadn't come back to move it. We were given the choice of 2 campsites - one had 50 amp electric and the other had 30 amp electric.

We unhitched the car and drove around the campground to check out the 2 site. Site 5 is within walking distance to the laundry and store and has 30 amp electric. Site 107 is on the farthest row back in the campground and had the 50 amp electric. We selected site 5 because we felt that we would have a better chance to get satellite RV reception.

We returned to the office and told them our campsite selection. We are staying here with our Coast to Coast membership and will be here for a week.

Site 5 is a back-in campsite and it turned out to be pretty level. We set up the motor home and then tried to tune in our Dish 500. We had a low signal and then lost it when Mike tried to move the antenna to get a stronger signal.

After many unsuccessful tries to tune in Dish, we put up the local TV antenna and tuned in the local stations - all 3 of them, all PBS. One of the stations is in Spanish, another has children's programming and infomercials and the third is Create. So tomorrow we'll try again to tune in the satellite TV.
