We took Tinker to Shear Elegance this morning to be groomed.
We stopped at Food Lion to buy a couple of things and I used our debit card so I could get some cash. Our next stop was at the Plaza Dry Clean and Laundromat to wash our queen comforters (1 for our bed and 1 we cover the sofa with) and some throw rugs.
While I was doing the laundry, Mike drove to a car wash and washed the Vue. When he was done, he came back to the laundromat and sat out in the car listening to Sirius radio while I waited on the laundry to finish. It cost $19.50 to wash the comforters and throw rugs.
Since I couldn't find everything on my list at Food Lion, we went in to the Martin's grocery store near the laundromat. Martin's is part of the Giant grocery store chain and I had a Giant bonus card, so I was able to take advantage of their sale prices on the items we bought. The Martin's store seems to be newer than the Food Lion and seemed to have a larger selection of products.
We had just gotten back to the motor home and were getting ready to fix lunch, when the
groomer called to tell us that Tinker was ready to be picked up. Boy, if they had called just 15 minutes earlier, we would still have been in town.
We had lunch and then drove back into town to pick up Tinker. He looks really good and Sharon did a good job of grooming him and the $40 fee wasn't too bad.
Once we got back to the RV, it was time to try getting the Dish 500 antenna to work. Mike moved our satellite dish to a campsite across the road from us. There is a trailer on the campsite, but no one is staying there.
When we had talked with the RV technician at Dish Network, he said that we wouldn't need a switch box and that we would only need to connect a cable to only one of the LNBF's. The technician at Via Satellite said we needed to connect a cable to the 2 LNBF's and then connect them to the switch box and then connect just 1 cable from the box to the RV.
Mike tried connecting to the antenna without the switch box and then he connected the switch box - no satellite reception either way. Mike then connected our old Dish antenna and we could connect to satellite 119 and get TV reception.
At least tonight we can watch TV and tomorrow morning we'll try again with the Dish 500 and call a RV technician at Dish if we still aren't able to get it to work. We have tried watching local TV, but there are only 3 channels - all PBS and one of the 3 is in Spanish.
