From Colonial Beach to Fort A P Hill |
We drove south on US-301 and crossed the Rappahannock River just north of Port Royal.

We arrived at the Main Gate into Fort A P Hill at 11:36 and after showing our military ID's to the gate guard, we drove on out to Champ's Camp RV Park. We drove a total of 30 miles today from Colonial Beach to the FamCamp.

We parked the RV in the campground and got out to walk around to look at the vacant campsite. We chose site #25 with 50 amp service. We unhitched
the car and then Mike backed the motor home into the campsite. Mike connected us up to the electric service and water supply. We leveled the RV, put the slides out and put up the roof-top satellite dish - no signal, the dish was shooting through a couple of tree.
We decided to have lunch and then after lunch, Mike went outside with the compass to see where he could set up our portable satellite dish. The only place we could have set up the portable dish was by running the cable through the playground - not an option. So we started checking out some of the other vacant sites.
We settled on site #13 across from us, so we put the slides back in, disconnected the electric and water, retracted the jacks and moved the RV. After backing in the RV, Mike went out to connect the electric and got shocked when he started to plug in his circuit tester and it showed there was an open ground in the box.
So, third time is the charm - we moved down to site #21 and set up camp again. We have 50 amp electric, water and sewer hook-ups and Mike set up the portable satellite dish behind the RV where we can get a good signal.
We are close to the RV Center that contains the laundry, showers and bathrooms, and a TV lounge. We walked over to check out the laundry, but the door was locked and requires a pass code which we don't have yet.
Tomorrow we'll go over to the Outdoor Recreation office and pay for our week's stay here and get the code for the laundry room.
We are happy to see that we have a very good Verizon 3G signal here, so I should be able to get our blog and photo albums updated.
