Visit with Jean & Connie

We got up at 8:00 (we set our alarm last night) and after walking and feeding Tinker, we walked over to the Pride Cafe for the breakfast buffet. There were several couples already there when we arrived.

We paid for our buffet ($5.99 each) and started down the buffet line. We had a choice of biscuits, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, grits, sausage patties, bacon, fresh fruits, pancakes and fried apples and coffee or tea. If we hadn't wanted the buffet, we could have ordered a la carte items. Everything we had was good and we were definitely full when we left to walk back to the RV.

After having such a large breakfast, we decided to have a light lunch. We left the campground around 1:30 and drove 27 miles south to Sylva to visit with my cousin Jean in her new apartment in Jackson Village.

Jean has only been in her apartment for a month and is still getting settled in. After Jean showed us around her apartment, we decided to sit outside since it was so pleasant. We hadn't been there very long when Jean's daughter, Connie, arrived and joined us.

We had visited with Jean 6 years ago at her house in Maggie Valley, but it has been about 34 years since we had seen Connie.

Connie had brought over some old family photos she had found and Jean showed me a photo album her mother Reba had made for her and contained photos of Jean growing up.

Jean has a gorgeous black cat name Baby and Baby hopped up onto my lap for a bit and then left to continue her exploring of the outdoors.

We stayed visiting with Jean and Connie until 5:00 and then said our goodbyes. It was great to visit with them, but we still had to go grocery shopping before we drove back to the campground.

We drove down Main Street in Sylva and passed by the Jackson County Courthouse that was built in 1914 and is now the Jackson County Library.

We really enjoyed driving down Main Street and seeing all of the shops and restaurants - it is always great to see a city's downtown area thriving.

Mike saw this Cushman Eagle in the window of Jones Country Store and Museum and had to park and take a photo of it. We would have gone in to the store but it was closed since it was after 5:00.

We were going to go to Ingles grocery store in Sylva and decided to stop at Bojangles for dinner before we went grocery shopping. We had our usual 4 piece Supreme Combo meal. By the time we ate dinner, went grocery shopping and arrived back at the RV, it was 7:00.
