Bandit's Roost to Pride Resort

We got up at our usual 8:00 and after breakfast and coffee started to break camp. It was 60°this morning and felt good while we were getting ready to leave.

While we were preparing the RV for our departure, I started up Streets & Trips on my laptop and started the GPS because it sometimes takes a while for it to locate satellites. After I finished my inside work, I went outside and helped Mike some. Our neighbors John and Mary came over to say goodbye while we were working. We stopped at the dump station to empty our holding tanks and hitched up the car while we were there.

We left Bandit's Roost Campground at 10:20 and headed back down Jess Walsh Road to SR-268 west and then south on Boomer Road that was a nice 2 lane winding road for 3 miles. Our Garmin GPS is working, but the GPS for Streets & Trips still hasn't connected with any satellites.

We then headed south on SR-18 through farmlands and rolling hills.

At the town of Lenoir we continued south on US-64 to I-40 West at Morganton at 11:15. As we traveled west on I-40, our views of the Blue Ridge Mountains got better.

We drove for 21 miles on I-40 and stopped at a rest area near West Marion at 11:45 to fix lunch. Streets & Trips still has not connected with any

satellites and I had hoped it would while we were stopped for lunch.

About 20 minutes after leaving the rest area, we passed by the I-40 exit to Black Mountain where Mike's parents had had a summer cabin in the mountains. Just as we passed this sign Streets & Trips FINALLY connected with satellites and the gps started working and we had been driving for 2 hours.

We saw a sign for a Pilot station on Exit 24 and pulled off to get gas in the RV and with our Flying J/Pilot discount we paid $3.739 a gallon.

We exited I-40 at Exit 20 and drive south on US-276 for 1½ miles to Pride Resort that is a Coast to Coast campground. We arrived at campground office at 1:30 and checked in. We had specified site G-13 which is the same site we were on 6 years ago when we were here.

We had had the circuit board for our Powerline Energy System sent here and it was at the office along with another package we had ordered. We had called American Home Base last Thursday to have our mail sent here and it hadn't arrived yet.

We have full hookups and cable TV at our site. Because we chose G Row which faces Jonathan Creek there is a $5 a day surcharge, there is also a $5 a day charge for 50 amp service and $3.50 a day for cable. Our daily charge is $13.50 for our campsite.

After paying for our campsite and collecting our packages, we drove over to our site and set up the motor home. Mike connected the electric and water (38 psi) and cable. There are over 70 stations on cable, so we're probably not going to put out our Dish 500 antenna. Our site is a pull through and we have a good view of Jonathan Creek.

It's cool enough to have the windows open and we can hear the creek water flowing over the rocks.

The last time we were here we would see ducks feeding in Jonathan Creek and we took a walk along the creek this afternoon, but didn't see any ducks. Maybe we'll see them tomorrow morning.

After dinner tonight I called my cousin Jean in Sylva and talked with her for a while. We're going to go visit her on Thursday afternoon.

I checked my cell phone and we have 4G service here with 3 bars and my photos I took today uploaded to our web in less than a minute.
