Getting ready for trip to Houston

We had a 9:00 appointment last Wednesday at Camping World in Cocoa, FL to have the new slide toppers installed.  We went over to the Burger King near Camping World to have breakfast and then drove over to WalMart Supercenter to do a little shopping. Mike also found a place where he could get a hair cut. Then we drove back to Camping World to wait until the RV was ready. Mike bought a new pull cord for the RV awning. We had already paid the $824 for the new slide toppers, but that didn't include removing the old slide toppers and that cost $146. The installation was finished and we were heading home by 2:00.

I just realized that even though I had said we were going to sell the motorhome, that I had failed to mention that we were going to put it on consignment at PPL Motorhomes in Houston, TX. I've either had several "grey moments" or it's because there has been so much else on my mind about getting the RV ready to sell - I'll go with the last option, it sounds better!

We are leaving tomorrow and driving the motorhome out to Houston, TX. We called our insurance company and told them we were putting the RV on consignment and they said we needed to add a rider to our insurance policy ($83) so the RV would be covered on the dealer's lot and have coverage for other people who would be driving it.

We had planned on staying at a couple of our membership campgrounds on the way out to Houston. We checked for the campgrounds for available campsites a few months ago and found out that the ones that were on our route had no vacancies. It is snowbird season in the south and the campgrounds are full. So we will be spending the night at WalMarts on our way to Houston.

We had Tinker groomed yesterday at Canine Design in preparation for our trip. The RV is all clean and ready for the trip. Mike has attached the cargo box to the back of the Vue so we will have some place to put the stuff we take with us on our trip. We're taking our Keurig coffee pot and just enough food for our trip out to Texas. But we'll have our bed linens plus our clothes for 12 days that we're gone.

After we leave the RV at PPL Motorhomes, we're going up to San Antonio to visit friends for a couple of days and then on up to Granbury, TX to visit with Mike's brother and wife before we head back to Sebastian.
