New window treatments for office and guest room

We've been busy the last 10 days putting the finishing touches on the Oriental guest room. We bought a Levolor Top Down Bottom Up cellular shade from Home Depot and a mirror for the dresser we bought at the consignment shop.

There was a padded cornice valance over the bedroom window that was upholstered with a dark brown material and we wanted to replace the material. Mike and I went to Joann's Fabrics in Vero and took one of the decorative pillows on the bed to see if we could match the red in the pillow and comforter. Mike found a red damask that matched perfectly and we bought enough material to cover the valance and have some left over for a dresser scarf.

I had ordered some curtain panels from Penney's I thought would look good in the office, but when I held them up over the windows they darken the room too much. I ordered some different panels from Penney's and returned the first panels. We just got the panels in and they will look good.

The original curtains in the office were pleated and pleated drapes are really hard to find any more. These new panels have grommets and we waited until the panels were delivered to buy rods that would match the grommets because the description didn't give the color of the grommets.

We found curtain rods at Home Depot yesterday for the office windows. We have double windows on one wall and we weren't able to find a curtain rod long enough, so we had to get an extension rod.

The curtain panels are 63" long which are way too long for the windows, so my next project will be to shorten the panels and the lining and then join some of the panels together so they will look like 2 wide panels instead of 4 separate panels over the double windows.
