From DeFuniak Springs, FL to Sulphur, LA |
We stopped at a Shell station near Theodore, AL at 12:30 to get gas ($3.259 a gal). There was a Subway at the Shell station, so we decided to get some subs and have them for lunch before we got back on the highway.
We stopped at rest area near Westonia, MS a little after 2:00 to walk Tinker and make some coffee before going on. At exit 267 on I-10 we got onto I-12 towards Baton Rouge and connected with I-10 east of Baton Rouge. I caught a quick glimpse of the Belle of Baton Rouge Casino right after we crossed the Mississippi River.

I was able to look back towards Baton Rouge and get a photo of the Louisiana State Capital building.

North of Lafayette we passed by where I-49 connected with I-10 and I saw a sign saying that Opelousas, LA was about 20 miles north of I-10. Mike's 3rd great grandfather Silas Fletcher and his family had lived in that area. Maybe we can stop in Opelousas on our way back home and do some genealogy research.
We arrived at the WalMart Supercenter in Sulphur, LA at 6:30 tonight. We drove 462 miles today. There is a Burger King close to us in WalMart's parking lot and we talked about having burgers for dinner. We decided to fix sandwiches for supper tonight since we had subs at lunch and go to Burger King tomorrow for breakfast.
There is a pedal attached to the toilet in the RV that we step on to flush the toilet. There is a spring attached to the pedal that brings the pedal back up to its original position and closes the toilet drain. As luck would have it, the spring broke on the pedal today! We can flush the toilet, but we have to manually raise the pedal to close the toilet drain. Why couldn't this have happened when we were home & Mike would have had time to repair it?
We're watching movies again tonight on the DVDs we brought with us. Tomorrow we will be getting into Houston and to PPL Motorhomes.
