San Antonio to Granbury

We checked out of the Motel 6 about 8:45 ($202 for 3 nights) and drove up to the Burger King for breakfast. Mike and I ordered our usual croissants - it definitely can't compare to the breakfast that our friend Mike fixed for us yesterday morning!

After breakfast we drove north on I-35 to Austin

and we saw this "Electric Garden" of large sunflowers that are powered by solar energy.

We stopped for gas at a Citgo station ($3.229 a gal) in Jerrell before heading on to Waco where we passed by Baylor University.

At exit 370 I-35 splits into I-35 West and I-35 East and we took I-35 West to US-67 at Alvarado and headed west. We ended up meandering through farm land and hills until we came to the entrance to Pecan Plantation where Mike's brother lives. Of course there was another way to get here without wandering around, but the countryside was pretty and we weren't in that much of a hurry.

Pecan Plantation has a herd of deer living there and it's not unusual to see them and we came across these deer grazing between houses.

We arrived at Chris and Carole's house at 3:15 after driving 304 miles from San Antonio. It's really good to see them and we're looking forward to spending the next few days visiting with them.
