Visiting with friends in Dothan

It was 25° with a wind chill of 18° this morning when we got up. Gayle fixed oatmeal for breakfast and cut up some oranges to go with it. We spent the morning relaxing and visiting before Mike and I (and Tinker) left to drive down to Dothan.

We had planned on eating a light lunch at Ms. Boomer's in downtown Dothan, but it had closed back in November. I had worked at the original Mrs. Boomer's for 7 years as the day manager. The restaurant had moved back to its original location a couple of years ago and it would have been fun to see it again. Oh well! We decided to go to Bojangles for lunch and had some chicken tenders with fries for lunch.

After lunch we drove by our old house in Dothan and it had been painted white (it had been a light beige or eggshell color).

We drove over to WalMart Supercenter on US-231 north and got gas ($1.999 a gal) and to do some shopping. We found a soft plush throw for Tinker and he could hardly wait for me to unwrap it when we got back to the car.

We still had some time before we were to see our friends W.T. and Glenda, so we stopped at Dakota Coffee and got a couple cups of coffee. Then we went to Camping World and saw Craig who is an assistant sales manager. I worked at Camping World for 3 years with Craig and it was good to see him and catch up. One of my friends Eddie was off today, so we didn't get to see him.

We left Camping World and drove over to W. T. and Glenda's house for a visit. We had planned on seeing them a couple of years ago when we came up to Dothan to get our stuff out of our storage unit, but W.T. had come down with the flu. We brought them a bag of oranges and one for Jimmy another friend of ours who is a truck driver. We had a nice visit with Glenda and W.T. and it was good to see they were doing well.

We called Mike and Gayle at home and told them we were on our way to the Mexican Connection and they drove down to meet us there. We had Debbie for our waitress and she and her sister Sandy both waited on us. Debbie and Sandy were waitresses at Mrs. Boomer's when I was a manager there. Frances (the owner) and Caroline had already gone home for the day (they also worked with me at Boomer's) and I found out that Reesie (also had worked at Boomer's) had just started to work at Mexican Connection.

We had a great dinner and it was fun visiting with Debbie and Sandy.

After dinner we drove back up to Ozark to Mike and Gayle's house. We're leaving in the morning and heading on west to Bossier City, LA where we'll spend the night.
