Tinker’s bath, Shopping & Moose in the Campground

We took Tinker to Petsmart for his 10:00 grooming appointment. The groomer said he should be finished by 1:00.

We drove back on post to the car wash behind the gas station and had the car washed. We also stopped at the credit union to get some quarters for the laundry.

Then we went shopping in the PX and we each bought an inexpensive watch. Since we’ve been retired, we even “retired” our wristwatches and we left them in our storage unit before starting on our trip this year. If we’ve needed to know what time it is, we use the clock on our cell phones.

It’s worked pretty good up until we got into Denali National Park with no cell phone service. We realized we could use a watch when we were waiting for the shuttle buses at Denali. We decided then that we needed a watch for the few times when we don’t have cell phone service.

We drove back to the shopping center and looked around in Best Buy and bought a couple of movie DVDs. Then we went into Target and got a couple more movie DVDs to have on hand when we don’t have any local or satellite TV reception. We saw this really neat sculpture outside of Target and Mike took a photo of it.

We went back to Petsmart to get Tinker and he looked and smelled great after his grooming. We had him bathed, cut, ears plucked, toenails ground and teeth brushed – the bill was $73. Ouch!! We had gotten an estimate when we dropped Tinker off, so we knew about how much it was going to be. That is the most we’ve ever paid – I think the most we’ve paid before this was $45.

We let Tinker go “shopping” in Petsmart and he picked out a rawhide chew and carried it in his mouth up to the checkout.

We were watching TV tonight when Mike jumped up, grabbed the camera and ran to the door and outside. A moose (who was wearing a tracking collar) and her calf were walking across the road a couple of sites away from us. Mike was able to make a movie of them. Mike kept a safe distance from the moose, but mama moose kept her eye on Mike.
