Bear ran through campground

We didn’t go anywhere today – just stayed in. We did make plans on the places in Anchorage we wanted to go see.

I was sitting at the dining table this evening working on the computer, when I saw an animal running down the road in front of our RV. I started to tell Mike that there was a dog running loose in the campground, then I realized that it was a young black bear! He was running for all he was worth and heading down towards the woods behind the dumpster at the end of the road.

Mike grabbed the camera and ran out the door just as a Post Wildlife Officer came running down the road after the bear. The bear made it into the woods before Mike could get a photo of it.

We talked with the Wildlife Officer as he was walking back to his truck. He was carrying a paintball gun loaded with pepper spray. He said he had seen cars stopping on the road going by the campground and people were taking photos of the bear. He said he headed after the bear and the bear recognized his truck and started running away. He said the bears know about his paintball gun and run when they see him.

An exciting end to another otherwise quiet day!
