Attending church and then leaving to start home

The weatherman was right - it was 46° with a wind chill of 44° when we got up this morning. After breakfast Mike and I packed up the car because we're leaving today and then we changed clothes so we could go to church with Symphony. We kept out a change of clothes from the suitcase for both of us, so we can change from our "church" clothes before leaving the church and getting on the road.

Thank goodness it was chilly this morning, because we brought Tinker with us in the car when we went to church otherwise we would have had to leave the car running with him in it. We arrived at Collinsville Baptist Church about 10:45 plenty of time before the 11:00 service started. Before the service starts, Pastor John Morgan always asks if there are any visitors and Symphony introduced us and Pastor John remembered us from our previous visits - which maybe is once every year or two.

Usually on Sunday after the 11:00 service, they have a pot luck lunch and we have attended them and have always left stuffed with good  home-cooked food and today was no different. After we ate, we got our change of
clothes out of the car and changed in the bathrooms in the church. We spoke again with Pastor John and some of the parishioners and told them how much we enjoyed attending church there and how good the food was.

We left the church about 12:40 and headed east out of Collinsville on AL-68 down to Leesburg over to the Alabama-Georgia border and then east on GA-20 to Rome. In Rome we got onto US-411 east. We saw this sign near Cave Spring, GA saying that US-411 is part of the original Trail of Tears route.

We stayed on US-411 until we connected with I-75 south and took it down to Valdosta and got off on exit 18 and arrived at the La Quinta where we are spending the night at 7:30.

After checking in at the motel, we drove the few blocks over to Five Guys for dinner and ordered our usual - Little Bacon Cheeseburger for each of us with 1 order of fries.

After dinner we came back to the motel and unpacked what we needed out of the car for tonight and tomorrow morning.
