Sunday morning Mike was able to get the water pump primed and we could use our own water! I had been holding off on doing laundry since we were hooked up to our neighbor's water supply, so I spent Sunday afternoon doing laundry. But by Sunday evening we started having problems again and Mike turned the pump off.
Monday afternoon we decided that the reason the pump wasn't holding the water pressure was because the spin down filter was installed before the pump and needed to be installed between the pump and the water tank. So Mike made a trip to Home Depot to get the fittings that he needed to move the spin down filter.
Mike took the day off from plumbing on Tuesday and mowed the yard. Mike talked with Bruce (our neighbor) and he suggested that we could also be
having a problem with the check valve for our well. So Mike made a trip to Home Depot that afternoon to buy a new check valve.
Wednesday morning after breakfast Mike replaced the check valve on our well and after he primed the pump - we had water! Everything worked just fine. It was nice to finally disconnect from Bruce's water supply and use our own water. Our final cost was $347 - $172 for the water tank and $175 for the pvc fittings (that included the ones to move the spin down filter). I can't imagine what it would have cost us to have a plumber install the water tank.
We got a call Thursday from Christine to see if we could meet her and Carol Friday morning for a late breakfast.
Friday morning we drove over to JP Matty's and met Christine and Carol at 9:30. We had a great breakfast as usual and spent the time catching up with each other's news. Friday evening we had our neighbors Bruce and Jane over for dinner. Mike grilled NY strip steaks, zucchini, squash and peppers and we had a salad for dinner. Jane brought a fresh fruit dessert. We had a nice time at dinner and visiting afterwards.
Mike and I had an early lunch today and drove up to Melbourne to do some shopping. On our trip up I-95 we ran into some heavy rain, but by the time we reached Harbor Freight in Melbourne the rain had stopped. Mike bought some tools that were on sale at Harbor Freight that he needed and then we drove over to HHGregg.
We had gotten a $100 gift card from HHGregg as a refund on our laundry appliances and we needed to use it. We bought a Samsung Sound Bar and used the gift card toward the purchase. Since it was now mid-afternoon and we were near a Five Guys Burgers restaurant, we decided to have an early dinner.
After dinner we drove back home on I-95 and drove through another rain storm, but the rain wasn't as heavy as when we drove up to Melbourne.
