Boy, has the year gone by fast! I can hardly believe it is time to work on our Christmas cards and newsletter.
We had Tinker groomed on the 5th in preparation for our trip down to Ft. Lauderdale to see Fletcher on the 6th. We had an early lunch last Saturday and then drove down to see Fletcher. We got to Fletcher's a few minutes before he got home from work and grocery shopping. Doug was off on a trip and we didn't get to visit with him. Fletcher grilled steaks, summer squash, zucchini and eggplant for dinner and fixed his pesto sauce for the steaks. This was the first time Mike and I had grilled eggplant (neither one of us really likes eggplant) and we were surprised at how good it was. Everything Fletcher fixed for dinner was very good. He has developed into quite a good cook and he eats a lot of foods now that he wouldn't have touched when he was growing up. We spent the rest of the evening watching movies and visiting.
We only stayed Saturday night since Fletcher was going to be going in to work Monday morning. Before we left the three of us went out to have a late breakfast at The Original Pancake House. Mike ordered The Skillet (home fries sautéed with peppers and onions topped with cheese and 2 eggs), a order of bacon and pancakes. Fletcher ordered Bacon and Eggs with home fries and extra bacon. I just had the Bacon and Eggs with home fries. Everything was delicious. We went back to Fletcher's house to pack our car and get Tinker. Fletcher had a box of wooden Christmas ornaments that he and I had painted when he was little. He also had the silver trays, serving pieces and coffee service set that Mike and I had gotten when we got married and Fletcher had taken them to his house when we sold our house. The silver has been stored in boxes all these years and was black with tarnish. We loaded the ornaments and silver in our car before heading back home.
I skipped the December meeting of the genealogy society because Mike had a doctor's appointment the same morning and we only have 1 car.
I did get our Christmas cards done and our newsletter and got everything out in the mail on the 10th.
