We met Jeanne, our realtor, this morning at 10:00 to inspect the house that we are buying before we go to the closing. We didn't really expect that there would be any problems with the house since we last saw it in January, but we wanted to be sure before signing the papers and everything was fine.
Jeanne followed us over to the Professional Title office where we were to meet the seller at 11:00 and sign the closing papers. We found out that the seller would be coming in at 1:00 today to sign his portion of the closing papers. The closing had originally been scheduled for 1:00 and the time had been changed a few days ago to 10:00, but the seller wasn't able to make the earlier time.
While Mike & I were signing our portion of the closing documents, the seller's realtor dropped off the house keys for us. By the time we finished
with signing all of the closing papers, it was lunch time. We invited Jeanne to join us for lunch, but she had another appointment she had to hurry off to.
Mike and I drove over to our friend's restaurant, JP Matty's, for lunch and visited with Matt (one of the owners) for a few minutes.
After lunch we drove to our house and took measurements of all of the rooms and made a list of some things we needed for the house.
Then this afternoon we called Teddy's Cleaning Service and set up an appointment for tomorrow afternoon with the owner to discuss having the house cleaned before we move in. There is a Culligan water softener out by the pump for the well and a reverse osmosis system under the kitchen sink. Mike called the Culligan office to have someone come out to service the water softener and RO system.
The kitchen appliances seem to be fairly new and I found a file in the office containing the manuals for the kitchen appliances (they were bought in 2011) and manuals for the garage door opener, Culligan water softener and RO system.
We went back to the RV for dinner and spend the night. We're excited about becoming home owners again and are looking forward to this new chapter in our lives.
