Fantasy of Flight Museum

We met Chris, Carole, Paulette and Dredsel at Perkins Restaurant for breakfast before Paulette and Dredsel left to go back home to Jacksonville. Before saying goodbye to Paulette and Dredsel, we took photos of each other in front of Perkins. We wish that they could have stayed longer.

Chris and Carole followed us back to the RV so we could park the Vue and then we drove south to Polk City in their car to visit Fantasy of Flight. Fantasy of Flight is located 25 miles south of Kissimmee just off of I-4.

We arrived at Fantasy of Flight a little before noon. Fantasy of Flight advertises itself as "an attraction on a higher plane", not an aviation museum.

With our AAA discount of $8, the admittance fee for Mike and I was $53.40. We entered Immersion Environments which took us from Early Flight through World War II. We walked through

a real B-17 Flying Fortress with sound effects that simulated actual flight.

Afterwards we entered the North Hangar and South Hangar with aircraft from the earliest days of flight through WWII.

We went on the Wood Shop Tour at 12:45 and learned about the Benoist 2014 project and all of the research that went into the preparation of building a Benoist airboat.

At 1:30 we walked out onto the tarmac to watch the daily aerial demonstration. Today's aerial demonstration was a P-51 Mustang flown by Kermit Weeks who is the founder and owner of Fantasy of Flight.

Since we had had a late (& large) breakfast this morning, we had thought about eating a late lunch at the restaurant at Fantasy of Flight. The restaurant closed at 3:00 so we decided to wait until we got back to Kissimmee to eat. We left Fantasy of Flight about 3:30 and headed back north to Kissimmee.

On the drive back to Kissimmee we decided to go to Olive Garden to have an early dinner. Olive Garden wasn't very busy then, so we didn't have to wait for a table. After all of the walking around we did at Fantasy of Flight, it was nice to sit in a soft booth and relax.

After dinner we headed back to the RV for a short visit, before Carole and Chris went back to their hotel to pack since they are leaving tomorrow to head back home to Granbury, TX.

It was great to see Carole, Chris, Paulette and Dredsel - we just wish they could have stayed longer.
