Renting a Moving Truck & Unloading Our Storage Unit

We got up this morning at 7:00 and boy was it chilly - 41° with a wind chill of 35°. Mike and Gayle had already left the house since Gayle's surgery was scheduled for this morning. After giving Tinker his breakfast, we left the house a little before 8:00 and headed down to Dothan. We decided to stop at Cracker Barrel for breakfast since we had about an hour before we were scheduled to pick up the rental truck at Budget.

We got to Budget Truck Rental a little after 9:00 and signed for the 18' moving truck that Mike had reserved. We decided on Budget because they give a 20% discount (Sunday thru Thursday) for AARP members and our total cost for the truck rental was $316. We called Jimmy as we were leaving Budget and he met us at BMI Storage.

We had a 5 X 10 storage unit and it was about 3/4 full - it was amazing how much stuff we had in there! Not all of the stuff was from inside the RV. We had the the wooden platform that Mike & W.T. had made to carry our RV and Saturn spare tires that was attached to the back of the Vue, the cargo box, some folding chairs and our old ladder.

It was great having Jimmy to help us get everything out of the storage unit and loaded into the truck. Jimmy was great at figuring out the best way to load everything - no surprise there, since he is a trucker. Mike had bought a

really neat John Wayne drawing at the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody, WY and since Jimmy is also a John Wayne fan, we gave him the drawing for helping us out. It was good to see Jimmy and Tinker really liked seeing him again. We had to leave Tinker in the car most of the time we were loading the truck. But he did manage to run into the storage building (the doors opened automatically when he walked in front of them) and had a great time running up and down each of the rows before I could catch him.

We had hoped to be able to visit with our friends W.T. and Glenda today, but W.T. thinks he may have the flu so we had to cancel our visit. We had been looking forward to visiting with them.

We left the moving truck at BMI Storage while we went to a Subway to have lunch. After lunch I called Care Animal Hospital to see if we could bring Tinker in for his annual check-up while we were in town. Tinker had his heartworm test, a vaccination he needed and I bought his heartworm pills.

We stopped to get gas in the Vue before going back to BMI Storage to get the rental truck. We paid $3.369 a gallon at the Raceway and yesterday we got gas at the Flying J just west of Tallahassee and paid $3.599 a gallon for gas - a big difference!

Mike and Gayle were back home after her surgery by the time we arrived back at their house late this afternoon. Mike and Mike worked on hooking up our tow bar to the rental truck so we can tow the Vue back, but there was a problem and our tow bar wouldn't work. Fortunately Mike (our friend) still had his old tow bar and it worked fine, so we will be able to tow the car on our trip back home.

Gayle had gotten comfortable in her recliner and said she will probably just sleep there tonight. Mike (her husband) fixed her some soup for dinner before the rest of us went out for dinner. Mike took us to La Fajitas Grill which is their favorite Mexican restaurant in Ozark and we had a great dinner, but we did miss having Gayle with us.

We're leaving here tomorrow and driving down to Kissimmee to pick up a few things there before going home to Sebastian. We're tired and definitely ready for bed tonight. Tinker had a big day and he looks like he's ready for bed, too.
