Since I haven't posted anything since last month, I guess this month wasn't too news worthy!
On Apr. 14 I attended the monthly genealogical society meeting in Vero. Our speaker was Debra Fleming (The Ancestry Detective, genealogical research firm) and she spoke on the role of religion in genealogy. She discussed the different religions and how their beliefs could affect genealogical research in respect to the kinds of records about life events that might be or not be recorded.
I've started gathering my documentation to submit an application for Mike to the Florida State Pioneer Certificate program. I'm also going to submit Fletcher and Mike's brother Chris for certificates. I have a lot of the required documents already, but everything has to be organized by generations and dates and then given a document number.
We did attend the MOAA (Military Officers Association of America) luncheon on Apr. 17 at Regency Park in Vero. The guest speaker was Lt. Col. Michael McClure who is the Commander of the Department of Defense Human Space Flight Support to NASA assigned to Patrick Air Force Base. He talked about the current manned space flight mission and the last successful Orion launch and recovery.
Chris, Mike's brother, has been going through chemo treatments for his inoperable liver cancer the last two months. Besides making him extremely tired, the treatments have affected his memory to some extent and sometimes he has a hard time recalling the words he's trying to say. He hasn't started on radiation therapy yet.
